Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing , but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:25 NIV
As iron sharpens iron ,so one man sharpens another. Prov 27:177 NIV
Across the road from our house is a corn field. I've been watching it grow and have noticed that the outside row of corn is only about one-half as tall as the rows in the field.
There is a simple explanation for this. The outside row of corn doesn't get pollinated like the rows that are in the field. The rows of corn that are surrounded by corn, grow best. Not only do those stalks grow best, but they bear fruit - corn!
That got me thinking, maybe that corn field is kind of like the body of Christ - the church. Could it be that we grow best when we are surrounded by other Christians? I think so. Being in a community of believers establishes a level of support, accountability and resources that pollinates our lives as Christians.
So, where are you in the church? Are you surrounded or are you standing on the edges? Are you growing like you should? Are you bearing fruit?
Are you in?
